Sea Glass (definition)
Sea glass is physically and chemically weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of fresh and salt water.  These weathering processes produce natural frosted glass.  Sea glass can be collected as a hobby and can be used to create jewellery.

I'd by lying if I didn't admit to being just a little bit obsessed with sea glass and china.  I'm fascinated by the colours and textures of each piece.  Like humans, every piece of sea glass has a story to tell and I think that's one of the things I love about it.

All the glass and china that I use in my art is collected from the beaches close to where I live.  Collecting these pieces is actually very calming and theraputic.  You will often find me sitting on the beach, picking through the sand and stones to find pieces of colourful and forgotten glass, lying buried for years underneath the sands and unearthed by me to start a new journey.  With each piece I find, I think about it's origins and it's story.  From where did it come and how long has it taken for it's razor sharp edges to be smoothed by the ocean?

Whatever it's beginnings and however it came to rest on the beaches of Morecambe Bay, the uniqueness of each piece ensures that everytime I work with this fabulous glass, I can create a truly genuine and authentic piece of art.
